Novena to Blessed Carlo Acutis Day 9

Amelia had about five years of normal childhood. We never have enough time, but it still feels short.

We started seeing problems in the spring of 2021 (when the above video was taken); she was diagnosed with MLD almost exactly two years ago. Within a year, she lost the ability to walk, talk, hold things—basically everything you see in that video.

Like Blessed Carlo says in today’s meditation, we should not waste our time with things that don’t please God. Love, family, community—these things please God.

It’s especially true, since we don’t know how much time we have. Carlo only had 15 years, but touched many lives. Amelia has had far less, but if God, through the intercession of Blessed Carlo, grants this miracle, I know we won’t waste whatever extra time we have.

Opening Prayer

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we thank you for all the grace and favors with which you enriched the soul of the Blessed Carlo Acutis during his 15 years on this earth. Through the merits of this Angel of Youth, grant us the grace which we earnestly seek, that Amelia be cured of her metachromatic leukodystrophy.

Meditation

“I am happy to die because I have lived my life without wasting a minute on those things which do not please God.”

Blessed Carlo Acutis, give us the grace of graces—perseverance to the end and a saintly death. Amen.

Pray five Our Fathers, five Hail Marys, and five Glory Bes to give thanks to God for the grace granted to Carlo in the 15 years of his earthly life.

Closing Prayer

Almighty God, Father of Mercy, raise your servant Blessed Carlo Acutis to the glory of the altars, so that through him you will be even more glorified. Give us the honor of counting him among the saints, for he lived in Your Will in all things. And through his merit, give us the grace that we so ardently desire.
