That Which Lasts

Novena to the Blessed Carlo Acutis Day 1

When faced with something like the inevitable and early death of your only child, the things that are really important come into focus. That’s why I’m asking you to pray with our family and the dearly departed Carlo Acutis for Amelia, the child God entrusted to Kirrily and I. Our most important tasks as parents is the care of her soul, her health, and her development.

It’s been said that every single person you meet will outlive every earthly empire. Carlo was taken into heaven at the age 15; we don’t know how long Amelia will be in this world, but we do have faith she’ll live eternally in heaven.

Opening Prayer

Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I think you for all the grace and favors with which you enriched the soul of the Blessed Carlo Acutis during his 15 years on this earth. Through the merits of this Angel of Youth, grant us the grace which we earnestly seek, that Amelia be cured of her metachromatic leukodystrophy.

Meditation

“Not me, but God.”

Blessed Carlo Acutis, you who made your life a continual renunciation and setting aside of unimportant things, give me the grace to seek heavenly things and despise that which is transient. Amen.

Pray five Our Fathers, five Hail Marys, and five Glory Bes to give thanks to God for the grace granted to Carlo in the 15 years of his earthly life.

Closing Prayer

Almighty God, Father of Mercy, raise your servant Blessed Carlo Acutis to the glory of the altars, so that through him you will be even more glorified. Give us the honor of counting him among the saints, for he lived in Your Will in all things. And through his merit, give us the grace that we so ardently desire.
