Novena for Amelia - Day 8
We are almost there, with one more trip through the Sorrowful Mysteries (text, video).
The Problem of Evil has been a question for mankind since the beginning. and continues today. When Bad Things Happen to Good People was written just 40 years ago; The book of Job was written 2,500 years ago. We're probably not going to get a satisfactory answer anytime soon.
But the latter book does have a question. When Job confronts God, God asks, "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth?"
We don't know why bad things happen; we can't know. But we don't know why good things are happening, either. We don't know why anything happens, ultimately, so all we can do is pray that our hopes align with God's plan.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
Lord God, we thank You for all the ways You have blessed and assisted us in our lives. We humbly ask You today to bring healing to all who are sick.
We know that You love each one of us and that You will do good for our lives. Many times, we do not understand how our suffering and the suffering of others fits into Your plan, but we know you can bring great good out of it. Help us to grow in trust and submission to Your will. this day and everyday.
We ask You to heal all the sick, and we particularly ask You today to help us grow in submission to Your will for our lives. Help us to make growth in holiness our top priority in life. Help us to take every opportunity to grow in virtue each day.
And we especially ask in this novena to cure Amelia of her metachromatic leukodystrophy.
Lord, hear our prayers!
