Novena for Amelia - Day 5
It's Tuesday, which brings us back to the Sorrowful Mysteries (text, video). Yesterday, I mentioned that prayer isn't a magic spell, but a conversation. Jesus exemplifies this (naturally) in the first mystery, The Agony in the Garden.
“My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me; yet, not as I will, but as you will.” This is probably the hardest prayer to pray. To ask for divine intervention, but with the qualifier "only if it's part of your plan."
When you're a little kid, you ask your parents for everything, and they often have to say no. It's hard to understand why they won't give you what you ask, which makes the refusal even harder. But of course, your parents love you and only want what's best for you; usually, "no" was a part of that.
How much more does God love us, and how much more does God know about what's best for us? We don't know whether God will grant our request or not, but all we can do is ask.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
Lord God, we thank You for all the ways You have blessed and assisted us in our lives. We humbly ask You today to bring healing to all who are sick.
Battles with sickness are never easy. Those who are sick are in great need of help from loved ones to get them through the battle with illness. Friends and family members of the sick often suffer as well, but their love and support can be a great help to those who are struggling with sickness.
We ask You to heal all the sick, and we particularly ask You today to help all loved ones of sick to give much-needed support!
Help us to turn to You for help each time we face difficulties in our lives. Help us to rely on You more fully every day, especially in times of suffering.
And I especially ask in this novena to cure Amelia of her metachromatic leukodystrophy.
Lord, hear our prayers!
