Novena for Amelia - Day 1
Thank you for praying this Novena for Amelia.
If you're unfamiliar with Novenas, this website has a nice explanation. (Confession: I also cribbed some of these prayers from their page.) Tl;dr: it goes all the way back to the Ascension, when the apostles prayed for nine days with Mary, which led up to Pentacost. We can't be with Our Lady in person, so we pray the Rosary for nine days straight.
If you need a refresher on praying the Rosary, you can find one here. You can always pray it with your interior voice, but if you like to follow along with someone, Hallow has a daily Rosary in their app, or for visual people, there's Bishop Barron's YouTube channel.
On Fridays, we traditionally contemplate the Sorrowful Mysteries. Which is a bit of a bummer, but also a fitting starting point for our prayer journey, considering Amelia's state with her disease. The Agony in the Garden is particularly poignant at this time, since we know what's coming, and there's nothing we can do but pray.
We begin in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
Lord God, we thank You for all the ways You have blessed and assisted us in our lives. We humbly ask You today to bring healing to all who are sick, especially Amelia.
Many sick people suffer from intense physical pain, sometimes for a very long time. Prolonged physical suffering can be difficult to bear, especially when there is little or no hope of a cure. You can bring comfort and even complete healing to all people who are suffering from great physical pain.
Help us to rely on You for all that we need in our lives. Help us to never allow sufferings or trials to deter us from serving You faithfully.
And I especially ask in this novena to cure Amelia of her metachromatic leukodystrophy.
Lord, hear our prayers!
