Novena for Amelia - Day 6
Today, we return to the Glorious Mysteries (text, video). The third Mystery, the Descent of the Holy Spirit, happened after the apostles and Mary prayed for nine days straight (sound familiar?).
St. Augustine St. Ignatious Someone said, "Work as though everything depended on you, pray as though everything depended on God." Kirrily and I aren't doctors, so the best we can do is take Amelia to the best doctors we can find, in Minneapolis, in Philadelphia, right here in Los Angeles. And we've been helped by many, many people to be able to afford flying all over the country and seeing these doctors.
We're grateful for everyone's help in that work, and we're also grateful for everyone's prayers.
One of Jesus' most famous sayings is, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you." The thing that's sort of lost in translation is that this is a continuous act of prayer. It's more like "keep asking, continue seeking, persist in knocking." That's what the apostles and Mary did, and that's what we'll continue doing...
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, amen.
Lord God, we thank You for all the ways You have blessed and assisted us in our lives. We humbly ask You today to bring healing to all who are sick.
You have blessed us with many improvements in medical advances that can help the sick. Those who work in the medical field do a lot of good for the ill and infirm. You can help the efforts of medical workers to be fruitful as they tend to those in their care.
We ask You to heal all the sick, and we particularly ask You today to help all medical workers to bring healing to the world.
Help us to always be thankful for the blessings and assistance You give to us. Help us to grow in all virtues necessary for holiness in our lives.
And I especially ask in this novena to cure Amelia of her metachromatic leukodystrophy.
Lord, hear our prayers!
