I met a woman with eight (or nine?) kids, one of whom was severely disabled, like Amelia. This was not too long after Amelia’s diagnosis, so I asked about how she dealt with it. She told me she took comfort knowing that she could be certain at least one of her children would go to heaven. This may sound like a coping mechanism, but the truth is, we have to keep the end goal in mind with everything we do.
Every day, I ask Jesus to cure Amelia, so she can “run and jump and play, think and talk and pray.” Prayer is last because it’s the most important, it’s what we’re built for—a relationship with our Creator.
I’m sure Amelia prays in her mind. I try to guide her as I can, in daily prayer and mass. We have nice priests at our parish who accommodate her disability, and make sure she gets a small bit of the Eucharistic host that she can still consume. As I said yesterday, she still gets excited when we talk about Mary. Still, for the most part, she’s cut off from us; but she’s not cut off from God.
Amelia’s Christmas Novena - Day 9
O Lord, Word of God, You, whose glory is complete, came to us in perfect humility as a child in the womb. Your love for us and Your humility is unsurpassed and brings us to our knees in prayer and worship.
Your incarnation forever changed the world.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
O Lord, infant Jesus, bring us to live eternal with You! Jesus, your nativity was not without purpose. Your purpose was to bring us to You. We pray that you will bring us to Life Eternal with you this Christmas.
We also pray for the healing of Amelia, and that her miraculous cure will bring all who know her closer to You.
May Your Holy Will be done in our life and with these intentions.
We pray that the work of salvation that Your first coming began will reach fulfillment in each of us.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.
God, You are the One who gives sight to the blind and restores life to the lifeless.
We come before You in faith, asking for Your divine healing to touch Amelia.
May her restoration be a living testimony of Your boundless power, mercy, and love, inspiring all who witness it.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen! 🙏
Praying for a Christmas miracle! 🙏🏻🙏🏻
