Amelia had just started kindergarten at Mayfield Junior, a Catholic school, when she was diagnosed with MLD. It was the first time she had religion classes, and she and her friends were learning about the Holy Family. At the Christmas pageant, Amelia was one of several girls who got to portray Mary—
We say the Hail Mary every day, and I’ve told Amelia how she gets to have two mothers who love her very much, one at home and one in heaven. Mayfield was a blessing, reinforcing at school the things we teach her at home.
Amelia can’t attend a normal school anymore, but the Mayfield community continues to be a blessing. Kirrily teaches there, and both the school and the parents have been very supportive in every wat imaginable. In fact, I first heard about Carlo Acutis from Kirrily, who learned about him at school!
So, today we’ll be asking Blessed Carlo to inspire us to continue our devotion to Mary, the Mother of God, and ask them both for a miracle. After all, Mary is the first person to ask Jesus for a miracle on behalf of someone else, at the wedding feast of Cana, so we know her intercession is effective. Jesus is a good Son, and will listen to her.
Opening Prayer
Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, we thank you for all the grace and favors with which you enriched the soul of the Blessed Carlo Acutis during his 15 years on this earth. Through the merits of this Angel of Youth, grant us the grace which we earnestly seek, that Amelia be cured of her metachromatic leukodystrophy.
Meditation
“The Virgin Mary is the only woman in my life.”
Blessed Carlo Acutis, you who loved the Virgin Mary above all women, give us the grace to respond to her kind and good love. Amen.
Pray five Our Fathers, five Hail Marys, and five Glory Bes to give thanks to God for the grace granted to Carlo in the 15 years of his earthly life.
Closing Prayer
Almighty God, Father of Mercy, raise your servant Blessed Carlo Acutis to the glory of the altars, so that through him you will be even more glorified. Give us the honor of counting him among the saints, for he lived in Your Will in all things. And through his merit, give us the grace that we so ardently desire.
Amen.
I remember Amelia as the perfect Mary at Mayfield. She was so happy and proud…oh, and so was mom and dad☺️. We pray for her every day. ❤️😇🙏🏻
