A Final Prayer for Amelia
Thank you for praying a novena for Amelia!
It helps to know that so many are united in prayer for our little girl. Something like this happens, people tend to grow either more or less religious, I think. So, there is one more intention that I ask at prayer time with Amelia every night-- that Amelia, Kirrily, our friends and family, and I grow in faith through this struggle.
For my part, as I started praying the rosary more, I somehow managed to break three rosaries in one week--
The one on the left was a rosary bracelet with an elastic band which snapped from overuse. I often go skating in the evening and pray the rosary; one day, I fell, landing on the hand holding the big wooden rosary, and it basically exploded. The little one at the top, I have no idea where the 8th Hail Mary went.
A little while later, a friend and co-worker of Kirrily gave me a Rugged Rosary--
I don't know if she'd heard the story of my destructive behavior, or if Mother Mary intervened because I can't be trusted with a regular rosary, but either way, these live up to the title. It's a replica of WWI Battle Beads. I think I could bless a mugger straight to heaven with this. (Which is kinda poetic, since the first person to go to heaven was a thief.)
I'm not asking anyone to wear out your rosaries like I did, but even though this Novena is finished, please do keep Amelia in your prayers. As some of you have guessed, I write these messages in advance, so they can be sent in the morning on the east coast. In other words, I don't actually know what will be happening when you read this. But hopefully, God will bless Amelia in some way. No matter what, she'll still need your prayers.Lord Jesus, we have specific requests that only partially fill the infinite needs and desires in our hearts. We ask that You answer not only those requests but also for a greater reliance on You to satisfy the needs and desires that You have given us.
Please grant the prayers of all those who prayed this novena, especially a cure for Amelia. Bless them with Your love and make them holy. Grant that we seek You with a sincere heart.
Help us to see Your good and gracious purpose in all our trials, including and especially Amelia's metachromatic leukodystrophy. Help us to see Your blessings in every day and help us to love You more.
Thank You for everything, Lord Jesus!
